Biography
Jonathan S. Ross is the Founder and Managing Director of Black Rock Consulting, which has officially existed since 2003. He draws upon more than twelve years of comprehensive experience in project management, creative and interactive development, marketing, and strategic planning within the entertainment and technology industries. Jonathan has performed consulting work for a wide variety of clients, including Mosaic Capital, Tomahawk Partners, Vlaze Media Networks, Growthink, NORTHSOUTH Studios, Defcon Pictures, Celebrity Loop (formerly Safesearching.com), Scorpio Sound, Knowledge Kids Network, Knowledge Universe, Land Rover North America/Vermont Studio, Small Planet and Vermont.com. In May 2007, Jonathan was named a partner at Tomahawk Partners, LLC, a strategic consultancy and business advisory firm that is pursuing global opportunities with a focus on physical, logistical, and technological infrastructure, particularly in under-developed and emerging nations.
Prior to launching his own business, Jonathan served as Director of Digital Strategy for iFUSE, an original content provider targeted at 16-24 year-olds, where he was responsible for establishing the company’s production and creative departments and overseeing the launch of the company’s Web site before transitioning to a strategic development role. Previous to iFUSE, Jonathan held the position of Project Manager/Producer at Web consultancy iXL, where he oversaw the full life cycle development of Web sites and DVD menu interfaces for such clients as Knowledge Kids Network, Rioport.com, Warner Home Video, Disney and UCLA. Earlier in his career, Jonathan also worked in creative development, production and administrative capacities for such employers as Trilogy Entertainment, New Line Cinema and The Mount Film Group, among others.
Jonathan is also an award-winning writer and has served as an Instructor of Krav Maga (Israeli self-defense) at the Krav Maga National Training Center in Los Angeles. He is currently a student and instructor-in-training of Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu Eric Oram, one of the highest ranking U.S. Instructors of Grandmaster William Cheung, and is also affiliated with the International Krav-Maga Federation (IKMF) under the leadership of Eyal Yanilov. He earned an MFA from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television and a BA in Political Science and English from Duke University, where his regrettably prescient senior year graduate-level thesis (1992) focused on counter-insurgency operations and domestic counter-terrorism.
Jonathan, his wife and son currently reside in Beverly Hills, California.
